What affects which pet type you get back
Exclusive pets
If an Exclusive pet is on the RIGHT side of the hatching screen, you will ALWAYS get back the pet type on the LEFT side of the hatching screen.
In other words, you can get back Exclusive pet type only if it's on the LEFT side of the hatching screen.
In practice this means you can get back Exclusive pet type back while hatching only if you already own it and use it in the hatching process yourself.
Exclusive pets are marked in-game with Exclusive tag (except in
Crown Shop).
If you are hatching with another player's Exclusive pet, you are guaranteed to get back your pet's type no matter what.
If you are self hatching, you HAVE to put it on the LEFT side if you want a chance of receiving it back.
You can use this to your advantage. If you want to keep your pet type while hatching for statistics and abilities, you can find someone who has your desired abilities on an Exclusive pet.
Most Exclusive pets are
Not Kioskable.
Unhatchable pets
If an Unhatchable pet is on the RIGHT side of the hatching screen, you will ALWAYS get back the pet type on the LEFT side of the hatching screen OR a predetermined hybrid instead.
In other words, you can get back Unhatchable pet type only if it's on the LEFT side of the hatching screen AND an Exclusive pet on the RIGHT side of the hatching screen.
In practice this means you can get back Unhatchable pet type back while hatching only if you already own it, use it in the hatching process yourself AND the other pet on the RIGHT side of the hatching screen is Exclusive.
Unhatchable pets are not marked in-game. Only way to know is by checking 3rd party resources.
If you are hatching with another player's Unhatchable pet, you will either receive your pet's type or a predetermined hybrid instead.
If you are self hatching, you HAVE to put it on the LEFT side AND put Exclusive pet on the RIGHT side. That's the only way to get it back.
Most Unhatchable pets are
Not Kioskable.
Wow Factor
Every pet type has a property called Wow Factor. It is used in calculation that determines which pet type you will get back when hatching under normal conditions (so no Exclusive or Unhatchable rules apply).
It's a number that ranges from 0 up to 10. Higher it is = lower the chance you will receive it back. You can think of it as rarity.
You can't change Wow factor of a pet. It is tied to the pet type, similar to Item Cards they provide. So the only way to change it is to use a different pet type alltogether.
Wow factor is hidden in-game. Only way to know it is by checking 3rd party resources.
You can use this to your advantage. If you want to keep your pet type while hatching for statistics or abilities, but can't find an Exclusive pet, you can find someone who has your desired abilities on a Wow 10 pet to maximize your chances of keeping your pet type.
There are many finished Wow 10 pets in
Hatchmaking Kiosk already. Most popular ones are Beguiled Gargoyle, Dark Hound and some Quetzals.
Similarly if you are hatching for a pet type, you can maximize your chances of getting it by using a Wow 10 pet yourself. So it's useful to make at least one Wow 10 pet with max statistics if you plan to collect a lot of different pet types.
The formula for calculating return chance of Parent A looks like this:
(MaxWow - MinWow + 1 - AWow) / ((MaxWow - MinWow + 1) * 2 - AWow - BWow)
Or in other words: (11 - AWow) / (22 - AWow - BWow)
